Oil trade rents and International Income Inequality

This paper investigates the role of oil rents as implicit transfers that redistribute global income through international trade channels. It involves estimating these rents, calculating redistributive effect, exploring exports and imports different impact depending on per capita. The results document (i) lead to a positive but declining reduction in inequality, although it becomes regressive after 2001 using PPP estimates; (ii) redistribution is basically generated via exports, with playing minor role; (iii) have greater countries lowest deciles. novelty this work that, for first time, effect studied, by introducing concept trade, which opens up new fields research area inequality.
